Dance Dance Move Playlist - Activity Instructions

Let’s have a dance party in your living room! Even if you are dancing on your own, you can learn a lot of cool new moves and jump around to catchy tunes. This lesson is a great one to repeat so that you can get better at those moves and sing along with the songs.

Safety advice: Having lots of energy is great; make sure not to bump into each other as you move around!

Put your device where you will be able to see the videos. Open up YouTube and make sure you are connected to the internet. Here is a list of channels we think are pretty fun and you can subscribe to. Try them out and see which ones you enjoy!

Busy Feet

‘It’s warm up time’ is a great song to start with - it has basic instructions for movements, like clapping your hands, and will get them moving around to the beat.

Badanamu

Badanamu has a channel based around three animated penguins who do silly and funny things. A lot of their videos contain phonics practice, or encourage good behaviour. We recommend ‘Ponytail’ as the catchiest. ‘Party on the ocean floor’, ‘Get the pet wet’ and ‘Dinobus’ are also good songs to throw in.

Pink Fong

The whole world has heard ‘Baby shark’ over many different channels but this is the one we would recommend. They have hand actions to go with the song that are easy to learn, and are acted out by young kids within the videos. Pink Fong’s videos usually have catchy dance moves that might be suited more to the 3-4 year olds. We recommend ‘Rock paper scissors’, ‘Go bananas’, ‘I’m a little teapot’ and ‘Adventure of pirates’ as fun songs to move to.

Koo Koo Kanga Roo

These two random guys make fun videos to dance along to. ALL of their videos are fun, with great moves, bright colours and simple lyrics to remember. They bring a modern style to kids songs which is great for families who love their pop-rock, EDM and hip hop. You might even find that older kids want to get involved too!

The Singing Walrus

The Singing Walrus has a drumbeat to all of its songs, promoting an upbeat and positive vibe. There are lots of inviting animated animals doing different things like playing instruments or playing together. With an upbeat tune, and voice callbacks from other kids, they have songs that teach about beginner topics like shapes, vegetables, numbers and colours. They also have other songs just to get dancing with some actions. On top of the two below, we also recommend ‘Sun, moon and stars’ and ‘Hello song for kids’.

The Kiboomers

The Kiboomers is a funny station with good songs to get moving. ‘Freeze dance’ is fun to start dancing to different actions. The songs are easy to sing along with, and they have made versions of lots of simple kids songs. We also recommend ‘I’m bringing home a bumblebee'.

Super Simple Songs

Catchy and funny, kids will laugh at these and find many tunes to dance and sing along to. I recommend ‘Little snowflake’ or ‘The goodnight song’ as good go-to sleep songs outside dancing time. Super Simple Songs is as labelled: simple! But that’s never bad and kids enjoy the speeding up song, ‘Head, shoulders, knees and toes’. Great for younger audiences.

Scratch Garden

Scratch Garden has a sense of humor with a slice of salamander to satisfy everyone. As a parent or caregiver you might find yourself laughing at their slightly random banter in the videos and lyrics. Be sure to watch their ‘Special Reports’ - especially the one about what to do when stuck at home! They also have great versions of nursery rhymes, songs about syllables and counting.
