In this educational factsheet, we explore Trophic levels. One way to understand the relationship between individual organisms in an ecosystem is to create a food chain that shows how energy and nutrients flow between those organisms. However, ecosystems are more complicated than food chains because each organism is part of multiple food chains. Creating a food web helps to show all the food chains in an ecosystem and how they interact.
