Lesson Summary
Students will explore the design considerations of GenAI tools that use large language models (LLMs). They will explore how an AI tool could be designed or adapted for a specific purpose. They will understand how to design guardrails that take into account data privacy and user safety, how to create a reliable and information-rich knowledge base, and how AI tools can be developed to meet the needs described in user stories.
NB: The Take Action activity to design an AI tool is analogue but can be completed digitally – see the Teacher Content Information for further suggestions.
Learning intentions
Students will:
- identify specific school environment use cases for the healthy use of LLMs
- design an AI tool to support this scenario.
Success criteria
Students can:
- design for an AI tool's use in a specific scenario
- create guardrails for an LLM that considers data privacy and user safety.
