In groups, you are to design a Healthy Oceans Challenge. The aim of the Challenge is to help other people in your school community explore their day-to-day waste practices, encourage others to make better waste choices in order to improve the health of our oceans.

You will be using one of the ideas that you thought up as a class using the ideas quadrant. You will take this idea and develop it into a Healthy Oceans Challenge using the Project Action Plan and Communication Strategy below.

Think outside the box but make sure that the details of your project are aligned with the design principles of a SMART goal: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time Bound.

Step 1:

Identify the actions

Review what you did during your Project Action Plan. Make a list of some important behaviour changes that will lead to more people being waste wise in order to improve the health of our oceans.

Step 2:

Identify the audience groups

Make a list of the different audience groups of people with whom you want to share your story. What type of communication media does each audience group use? (for example, PowerPoint, email, printed articles, reports, pictures, billboards).

Step 3:

Communicate your message

Decide on a communication tool that you will use to deliver your message of encouraging people to be more waste wise to help our oceans. See the table below for examples of relevant communication media:
