Students will use models, including food webs, to represent matter and energy flow in ecosystems. Students will investigate how organisms in an Australian grassland ecosystem are interconnected by constructing and analysing a food web. They will use the model to represent the movement of energy and matter through the ecosystem and predict how a change in the native bee population could affect other populations.
Students will:
explore food webs in Australian contexts
identify feeding relationships and model energy flow.
Students can:
identify native pollinators within a food web model
explain how pollinators facilitate matter and energy flow in ecosystems
predict how a change in the bee population can affect other populations.
