Courage to Care: Upstander Education Resources
Knowing how to stand up for others impacted by prejudice or discrimination can be challenging. So we’ve worked with Courage to Care to create 12 lessons where students use statistics, personal behaviour, and community action to explore what it means to be an Upstander. Designed for Years 8 - 10, these lessons integrate curriculum-aligned Maths and HPE to champion Upstander behaviour.
About the resources
These resources provide teachers with accessible and engaging lessons and materials that educate about the dangers of racism, prejudice, discrimination and bystander behaviour, supporting and empowering their students in changing from bystander attitudes and behaviour to Upstander action.

Courage to Care is an independent, apolitical, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to educating young people to stand up against prejudice in all its forms.
Our aim is to create a generation of Upstanders through education grounded in the universal values of respect, empathy, fairness and active citizenship.
Our Face to Face Upstander Programs are also available to schools in most states free of charge. Delivered in classrooms, they empower students with safe, practical tools to build resilience, respond to racism and discrimination, and act as Upstanders in their schools and communities.
