House Map - Activity Instructions

Being stuck inside during bad weather can sometimes feel restraining. But what about all the space that you do have? Let’s stop to consider the space we have available and how to utilise it best.

Start With The Outline

Step 1.

With your paper and pencil, we are going to draw the outline of your house or apartment. This might need some parent or caregiver assistance. What shape is the space where you live? Is it made of many different shapes put together?

Step 2.

Draw the internal lines of the house, and remember to note where all the doors are.

Step 3.

Label the different rooms, the bathroom, the kitchen, laundry, lounge/living room, YOUR room, your parent’s or caregiver’s room, guest rooms or siblings' rooms.

Step 4:

Think about the furniture in each room. Draw in the beds, couches, fridges, cupboards, etc. Think about using different colours for different parts of the room, or use different shapes. You can even include other random things that you like about your living spaces.

Step 5:

Make notes about your favourite parts of the house. Where do you feel most at peace? Where do you eat? Sleep? Nap? Are there any areas that you don’t currently use but could?
