  2. How do traditional Indigenous land management strategies compare with more modern/current approaches?
  3. What evidence was there of risk reduction or community resilience in your case study?

How could your local community better prepare for and respond to future floods by integrating traditional knowledge and modern practices?

  1. Identify areas in your local community at risk of flooding and discuss the existing local emergency management plans. Do these include references to Indigenous knowledge or practices?
  2. Consult online resources and information from the Traditional Custodians of your area (where possible): What land management strategies could improve flood resilience or sustainability in your community?
  3. Design a short proposal or infographic (using digital tools) that outlines a flood management strategy for your local area, incorporating both traditional and current methods, justifying your recommendations.
