From Eco-anxiety to Climate-hope with Blue Minds

Turn climate concern into climate action

More than 3 in 4 Australian young people feel anxious about climate change (Orygen Institute, 2023). As an educator, you can support students in recognising that feelings of eco-anxiety are shared and valid while building resilience, hope, agency, and action-taking to protect our ocean.

Because we care for what we love, these resources strengthen students' connections to and appreciation of our ocean, and because learning from peer role models is important, students will hear from young change makers taking action for our ocean.

About the resources

These lessons are designed to:

🌊 help students recognise that feelings related to eco-anxiety are valid and shared
🌊 strengthen students' connection to, and appreciation for, our ocean
🌊 explore diverse perspectives on nature, place, and belonging
🌊 develop ocean literacy, foster hope and resilience, and transform climate concern into meaningful climate action
🌊 use exclusive videos of professional surfers, ocean guardians, and marine conservationists to inspire climate agency.
