Tasks involve envisioning an ideal inclusive classroom, examining diversity legislation, reviewing school policies for inclusivity, and analyzing methods for accommodating diverse learning needs. Strategies covered include diverse material presentation, teaching styles, varied assessment methods, differentiation, and inclusive language use, aiming to ensure equitable learning opportunities. The course encourages reflection on personal strategies and their implementation, setting goals for achieving an inclusive classroom. The conclusion emphasizes the ongoing journey toward fostering inclusivity.
You will learn:
- the concept of inclusivity and its significance in fostering a safe, positive, and diverse school environment that enhances academic performance and student confidence
- about relevant legislation, such as human rights and discrimination acts, and explore school policies related to inclusivity, encompassing aspects like student wellbeing, engagement, bullying prevention, and gender diversity
- diverse strategies to implement inclusivity in their classrooms, covering varied material presentations, teaching styles, assessment types, differentiation, scaffolding, and employing inclusive language
- strategies for self-reflection, prompting participants to envision their ideal inclusive classroom, review their strategies, and reassess progress periodically, fostering ongoing improvement in inclusivity efforts.
