Course Summary
As a teacher, you can spend as much time with a student as their parents or sibling may in the week, if not more. That creates a trusting relationship that often leads to you understanding and identifying the needs of your students’ mental health. While you are not expected to be able to provide the psychological support students need, it can help to know what some of the issues are. This course looks at some of the issues students face, including the most common mental health conditions and how you can best support them and refer them to the appropriate services. With this plan in mind, you will never be unsure how to help a student in crisis.
You will learn:
- some mental health challenges that face young people today
- what to watch out for
- how and when to refer students for further support.
Course time:
About 30 to 45 minutes - perfect for after work or during a spare period. You will have ongoing access via your user dashboard.
