Australian Curriculum (v9.0) content description:
Year 3 Health and Physical Education
Students can:
- refine and apply fundamental movement skills in new movement situations (AC9HP4M01).
Year 3 Mathematics
Students can:
- recognise and use the relationship between formal units of time including days, hours, minutes and seconds to estimate and compare the duration of events (AC9M3M03)
- acquire data for categorical and discrete numerical variables to address a question of interest or purpose by observing, collecting and accessing data sets; record the data using appropriate methods including frequency tables and spreadsheets (AC9M3ST01).
Relevant parts of Year 3 Health and Physical Education achievement standards: Students apply fundamental movement skills and demonstrate movement concepts across a range of situations. They adapt movement strategies to enhance movement outcomes. They demonstrate fair play and inclusion through a range of roles in movement contexts.
Relevant part of Year 3 Mathematics achievement standards: Students estimate and compare measures of duration using formal units of time. Students record, represent and compare data they have used.
General capabilities: Critical and Creative Thinking, Literacy, Numeracy, Personal and Social Capability
Cross-curriculum priority: Sustainability
Level of teacher scaffolding: Medium - facilitate class discussion, set up obstacle course, and assist with recording times.
UN Sustainable Development Goals
- Target 4.1: By 2030, ensure that all girls and boys complete free, equitable and quality primary and secondary education, leading to relevant and effective learning outcomes.
