Lesson summary
Students will participate in physical activities promoting participation strategies, plan, conduct and participate in statistical investigations, and analyse data (considering inferences and limitations) by learning about Basketball 3x3 and Wheelchair Basketball 3x3 at the Commonwealth Games. Students will collect data about the 2 sports and analyse and represent that data.
Learning intentions
Students will:
- explore the Commonwealth Games Basketball 3x3 events, looking at rules, court and equipment modifications.
Success criteria
Students can:
- apply basketball 3x3 skills to Wheelchair Basketball 3x3 situations
- plan and conduct a statistical investigation into how playing from a wheelchair impacts performance and how the rule variations accommodate this.

- participate in physical activities that promote health and social outcomes to design and evaluate participation strategies for themselves and others (AC9HP10M05).
Year 10 Mathematics
Students can:
- plan and conduct statistical investigations of situations that involve bivariate data; evaluate and report findings with consideration of limitations of any inferences (AC9M10ST05).
Relevant parts of Year 10 Health and Physical Education achievement standards: Students evaluate and refine their own and others’ movement skills and performances, and apply movement concepts in challenging or unfamiliar situations. Students propose and evaluate community-based physical activity interventions designed to improve health, fitness and wellbeing of themselves and others.
Relevant parts of Year 10 Mathematics achievement standards: Students plan and conduct statistical investigations involving bivariate data.
