Lesson summary
Ever wondered why we can’t just eat cookies all day, every day? This lesson explores the nutrients we source from different foods to fulfil the various needs of the human body.
Students will gain an understanding of how carbohydrates and other sugars affect their energy levels, investigate the particular use their bodies have for protein and other nutrients and plan a well-rounded lunch box that caters to their body’s nutrient needs.
The health and fitness-related tasks undertaken throughout the Volkswagen Footy Fit Challenge lessons are gamified, providing incentivised learning opportunities and allowing for some personalisation. Therefore, we recommend students complete the full Volkswagen Footy Fit Challenge unit to benefit from the full experience, completing this lesson first.
