Diamonds In Nature - Activity Instructions

Nature has always provided inspiration to poets and artists. In this activity, you will use your ideas on how elements of nature can benefit both people and nature to create a diamond poem.

Part A: Get inspired

Step 1.

Take a walk around an outdoor area. As you walk, find natural objects that you are drawn to, such as rocks, clouds or flowers. For each object, fill out your Nature Description Worksheet. There is an example already done for you. This poem might be a reminder:

Part B: Write a poem

Step 1.

Read the two poems provided on the Nature Diamond Poems Sheet, and complete the instructions. Pay attention to the number of words on each line - this is very important for this type of poem!

Step 2.

Use your Nature Description Worksheet as inspiration to create your own diamond poem. Start with just one of your objects, but if you’re feeling super creative, make some more!

Taking it further

Get out your art supplies and make your poem in a beautiful picture. Don’t forget to make the words look like a diamond shape!
