Lesson summary
This lesson explores key themes showcased in the AFLW ‘Player Stories’ vlog-doc: ‘A New Hero – Sabrina Frederick-Traub’. Students will explore stereotypes and how stereotypes impact upon identity through the lens of dynamic AFLW player Sabrina Frederick-Traub. Students view Episode 1 of ‘A New Hero – Sabrina Frederick-Traub’ and discuss what they observe in the clip. They will explore the concept of gender stereotypes by listing activities, categorising them according to whether they are stereotypically female or male. Students then seek inspiration from Sabrina and work together to identify strategies to overcome stereotypical thinking.
