Students will plan and conduct statistical investigations and choose appropriate forms to display their data by learning about the differences between Beach Volleyball and an alternate style of Volleyball. By using transferable skills and planning, students will collect and analyse data about their performance across the 2 sports.

Year 9 Health and Physical Education
Students can:
- transfer and adapt skills and strategies from previous experiences to create successful outcomes in unfamiliar movement situations (AC9HP10M07).
Year 9 Mathematics
Students can:
- plan and conduct statistical investigations involving the collection and analysis of different kinds of data; report findings and discuss the strength of evidence to support any conclusions (AC9M9ST05)
- choose appropriate forms of display or visualisation for a given type of data; justify selections and interpret displays for a given context (AC9M9ST04).
Relevant parts of Year 9 Health and Physical Education achievement standards: Students adapt and transfer movement strategies to unfamiliar situations to achieve successful outcomes.
Relevant parts of Year 9 Mathematics achievement standards: Students compare and analyse the distributions of multiple numerical data sets, choose representations, describe features of these data sets using summary statistics and the shape of distributions, and consider the effect of outliers.
