Lesson summary

Students will collaborate to participate in various physical activities, conduct statistical investigations, and gather and analyse data by investigating Swimming skills and out-of-pool training routines. Students will create their own routines, track and record data about their progress, and create a display using their data.

Learning intentions

Students will:

  • practise core Swimming skills 
  • track their changes in ability over time.

Year 7 Health and Physical Education

Students can:

  • analyse, refine and transfer movement skills in a variety of movement situations (AC9HP8M01)
  • design and demonstrate how movement strategies can be manipulated to improve movement outcomes (AC9HP8M02).

Year 7 Mathematics

Students can:

  • plan and conduct statistical investigations involving data for discrete and continuous numerical variables; analyse and interpret distributions of data and report findings in terms of shape and summary statistics (AC9M7ST03). 

Relevant parts of Year 7 Health and Physical Education achievement standards: Students apply and transfer movement skills and movement concepts across a range of situations. Students select, use and refine strategies to support inclusion, fair play and collaboration across a range of movement contexts.

Relevant parts of Year 7 Mathematics achievement standards: Students plan and conduct statistical investigations involving discrete and continuous numerical data, using appropriate displays.
