Lesson summary
Students will explore how personal and group achievements can be celebrated by role-playing various ways to acknowledge both wins and losses in a way that demonstrates good sportsmanship. They will discuss the concept of sportsmanship to help guide their responses, and develop their understanding by studying different events and ways people celebrate victory at the Commonwealth Games.

- Students learn about the celebrations and commemorations of significant events shared with their families and others (AC9HSFK02).
Relevant parts of Foundation HASS achievement standards: Students identify significant people and events in their own lives, and how significant events are celebrated or commemorated.
General capabilities: Personal and Social Capability
Level of teacher scaffolding: Low - the teacher will need to facilitate class discussions and respectful role-playing among students.
UN Sustainable Development Goals
