Students will investigate how communities manage and respond to severe weather events, such as cyclones, by exploring how both scientific and First Nations knowledge systems are used to predict and prepare for extreme weather. Through a class game, they will identify observations of Country that signal an approaching cyclone and then compare these to meteorological observations using a Venn diagram. Through designing a board game or writing a weather presenter script, students will demonstrate how combining both Indigenous and scientific approaches can strengthen community preparedness and environmental management in cyclone-prone areas.
