About 4 billion years ago, the first life on our Earth appeared. Since then, life on Earth has evolved, responding to environmental conditions and events. There are about 8.7 million species of animals on Earth; one of these is Homo sapiens. Throughout this evolution, our ancestors have changed and evolved in response to our environment; humans are the first species to change our environment we live in drastically.
