Presentation Summary

Recent evidence suggests that we are entering a new geological epoch; the Anthropocene (human activity is the dominant influence on our climate and our environment). Looking at the ‘golden spikes’ throughout our Earth’s history can help us understand the changes that humans are causing to the Earth’s systems. However, the Anthropocene and its start date are contested, and more work needs to be done to refine this theory.
