This unit allows students to explore the topic of climate change as well as its causes and impacts with the aim of building their climate literacy and understanding. The unit aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to critically analyse climate issues, fostering a sense of empowerment in addressing global climate challenges.

Students will gain an understanding of critical concepts such as the greenhouse effect, the carbon cycle, climate modelling and climate science communication. They delve into the interconnectedness of Earth's systems and the impact of human activities on rising CO2 levels in the atmosphere. Students also explore innovative technologies driven by climate science, which are aimed at mitigating and adapting to climate change challenges, culminating in the creation of models representing sustainable solutions in various sectors such as food, energy, transportation, and urban design.

Tune In

Students explore concepts relating to climate change to understand how the effects of climate change might impact the different spheres of the Earth.

Find Out

Students learn about greenhouse gases, the carbon cycle, and rising CO2 levels from human activities. They also explore climate science communication models, the impacts of climate change, and data collection and create their own climate science communication.

Take Action

Students will look at how climate science is helping us to create technologies that can help us live with climate change and will incorporate these technologies into design.
