Explore the World of Invertebrates with the Bug Hunt Collection!
Join students on an exciting journey into the fascinating world of Australia’s invertebrates with this dynamic collection of stand-alone lessons. Created with the Invasive Species Council and Invertebrates Australia, these lessons are designed for students across Year 3-10. These Science and Geography lessons explore Australia’s diverse invertebrates while connecting learning to real-world science through hands-on Bug Hunt activities on iNaturalist.
This collection is perfect for fostering curiosity about biodiversity, encouraging students to participate in environmental conservation, and building awareness of the importance of invertebrates in our ecosystems.
Bug Hunt is a citizen science project to help researchers make observations about Australia’s invertebrates. There are around 300,000 different species of invertebrates in Australia, but only about 100,000 have been recorded. Some of these species are native, and some of these species are invasive.
