This Year 7 & 8 HPE unit, Enhancing Wellbeing with Respect and Dignity, is designed to

  • develop students' understanding and skills in promoting health, safety, relationships, and wellbeing through altruistic behaviour
  • foster critical thinking and empathy by engaging students in activities that promote thoughtful discussion, develop meaningful messages and analyse real-world scenarios
  • delve into examples of compassionate giving represented on social media and how these impact attitudes towards charity
  • empower students to make informed decisions that contribute to their and others' wellbeing
  • enhance students’ understanding of the positive impact of altruistic behaviour and the importance of respecting the dignity of beneficiaries.

Detailed excerpts from The Life You Can Save by Professor Peter Singer are a key and unique element of these resources and help students understand the different perspectives around giving to charitable organisations.
