These activities are part of the Love Food? Love Bees! resources created in collaboration with ACT for Bees.
This series of Early Learning activities, Love Food? Love Seeds!, has been designed to:
- help young children explore how plants grow from seeds through sensory and play-based learning
- engage children in comparing different types of edible seeds by examining their size, colour, texture and shape
- allow children to discover how seeds develop in fruits and vegetables through hands-on observation
- encourage exploration of seeds in the local environment through nature walks and collecting activities
- develop children's creativity through seed-based craft projects such as maracas and mosaics
- connect learning about seeds with understanding of bees and their essential role as pollinators
- foster an appreciation for the natural world through interactive, multi-sensory experiences.
Through this unit, young children will develop a fundamental understanding of plant life cycles and food sources while building their observation skills, creativity and connection to nature, supporting EYLF Outcomes 2 and 4.
