Go to

This unit explores the intersection of electrical circuits, material science, and sustainability in the context of mobile phones. Students will engage in hands-on activities to understand the fundamentals of electrical circuits, including how they power mobile phones and the role of circuit boards. They will learn to construct circuits, use circuit symbols, and appreciate the significance of various materials in these processes.

Through experiments, students will investigate the properties of conductors and insulators, applying this knowledge to mobile phone circuitry. They will explore the origins of these materials and the environmental and economic impacts of their use and disposal, emphasising the importance of recycling.

This all culminates in students designing a sustainable mobile phone of the future, focusing on innovative solutions to reduce environmental impact. This unit aims to deepen students' understanding of electrical circuits and promote critical thinking about sustainability in mobile phone production and usage, empowering them to propose and advocate for environmentally friendly technological innovations.
