This unit describes several lessons and activities developed as part of the Schools Recycle Right Challenge for Planet Ark's National Recycling Week. These activities include investigating and comparing waste generation and resource use in different historical periods, planning and implementing small collaborative consumption projects, using mathematics to investigate and solve problems related to litter and recycling, designing surveys and analyzing data related to waste generation and contamination in school bins, and working with real data sets to explore trends in consumer recycling behavior.
