These lessons are part of The Leadership Documentary Education Resources, created in collaboration with Bunya Productions.

This HPE, Work Studies and Economics and Business unit, Exploring Diversity and Sexism, has been designed to

  • explore critical issues of sexism, harassment and diversity in workplaces, focusing on real-world case studies from the documentary The Leadership
  • examine the impact of sexism and sexual harassment on individuals and workplace culture, understanding employer responsibilities and legal protections
  • highlight the benefits of diversity within organisations, investigating how inclusive practices lead to greater innovation and improved business outcomes
  • inspire proactive approaches to overcoming systemic barriers, encouraging students to develop strategies for improving workplace inclusivity
  • build sensitivity and empathy, teaching students to listen respectfully and supportively to diverse experiences and perspectives

Throughout this unit, students will critically reflect on workplace challenges and develop practical solutions to promote safer, fairer and more diverse work environments for all.

It is highly recommended that you teach these lessons after students have completed The Leadership: Viewing And Responding To The Film – English – Year 10. Please be mindful that this lesson handles difficult topics and may impact different students in different ways and ensure students have access to confidential support if they need it.

The Leadership is rated M for mature audiences and contains coarse language and themes of sexual harassment and abuse. Consider whether viewing this film or clips is appropriate for your students.
