Lesson summary
Children explore fire as a subject for stories and play. They will watch videos on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures, and will create a pretend campfire to share stories around.
This activity forms part of the Caring For Country: Introductory Lessons and Themed Activities. It is recommended that you complete the Introductory Tuning in Lessons in this unit before sharing the Themed Activities with children.

Resources required
- access to a device to share a YouTube video
- a book to read or story ideas to share around the campfire (check this resource list for story ideas)
- materials for creating a pretend campfire, such as:
- sticks and leaves
- coloured paper or cellophane to represent fire
- stones to create a circular fire pit
- cooking equipment
- pretend food
- cushions for sitting on.
