Caring for Country - Introductory Lessons and Themed Activities for Children

This unit describes a series of activities aimed at introducing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives to children, including listening to stories featuring Indigenous characters, creating artworks that represent themselves, creating flags, acknowledging Country, exploring how Indigenous peoples use fire, and creating artworks using charcoal and ash. The activities are designed to build confidence in educators when sharing this topic with children and families, and form part of the unit "Caring for Country: Introductory Lessons and Themed Activities." It is recommended that the introductory lessons be completed before exploring any of the themed activities with children to give them a basic understanding of Indigenous peoples and cultures.
