Activity summary

This activity is designed to assist children in engaging all their senses, connecting with their surroundings, and understanding their inner thoughts and emotions. Through this, children enhance their abilities in concentration, attentiveness, resilience, emotional awareness, and managing both their physical and emotional responses.

Activity intention:

  • This activity has been developed to cultivate children's emotional awareness, resilience, and focus, fostering their social and emotional skills and promoting a deeper connection to nature through engaging in mindful exploration of their senses and environment.

Learning Outcome 1:

Resources Required

  • A space large enough for children (and adults) to sit or lie down (this activity works well inside, but outside is better!)
  • A collection of flowers, leaves, stones, seed pods or other tactile natural materials (enough for one each)
  • A small piece of fruit or something else edible for each child (berries, grapes, sultanas, herbs, cereal, etc). Be aware of food intolerance or allergies.
