Diversity is everywhere and it comes in many forms. Some are obvious; race, gender, language, able-bodiedness and appearance but many are hidden and include things such as socio-economic status, health concerns, family issues and gender identity. Since diversity isn’t always readily apparent it is better to pre-empt or assume that it is present in every class that you teach and to prepare your lessons to cater for students’ individual needs.
You will learn:
- how to get to know and understand the background of diverse students
- details of a variety of learning disorders that may impact your students' learning
- strategies for maximizing the learning potential of all of your students
