Students confirm the rules that apply in their home about switching on and off appliances.

Learning Goals:

  • Rules are needed to save energy at home, while keeping students safe and making sure other people in the home are not disrupted or inconvenienced.

Year 2 English:

  • Use comprehension strategies to build literal and inferred meaning and begin to analyse texts by drawing on growing knowledge of context, language and visual features and print and multimodal text structures (ACELY1670)

Year 2 Science:

  • Represent and communicate observations and ideas in a variety of ways such as oral and written language, drawing and role play (ACSIS042)

Syllabus Outcomes: EN1-4AST1-4WS.

Indoor or outdoor activity: Indoor/Outdoor

Time required: 20 mins in classroom and 10 min at home.

Level of teacher scaffolding: Lead the students in problem-solving about home rules balancing energy savings, safety and an optimal living environment. Assist students with understanding that each home is going to have its own rules.
