Lesson summary
Students learn about preventative oral health messages through examining a mix of messages based on facts and opinions. They explore differences in the language features of these messages to identify which health messages we should be listening to. Students create their own oral health messages based on facts.
Learning intentions:
Students will...
- understand the differences in the language used in facts and opinions
- understand that these language differences can provide clues about which health messages we should be listening to.
Success criteria:
Students can...
- identify some features of factual and opinionative texts
- critically analyse a range of oral health messages and assess whether they are based on fact or opinion
- understand key preventative oral health actions and create a poster to share these actions.
