Lesson summary

Students watch the opening sequence of THE OASIS twice – once on mute and once with the volume up in order to help them focus on the experiences of the young homeless people that they are viewing. Students use the See, Think, Feel, Wonder visible thinking tool to reflect on the opening sequence. They consider the factors surrounding the issue of youth homelessness through a teacher led class discussion and written reflection.

Learning intentions:

Students will...

  • understand youth homelessness is often invisible.
  • understand there are a number of different ways to view an issue.
  • understand there are a range of socio-economic factors may influence youth homelessness.
