Where Our Food Comes From

Many of the familiar fruits and vegetables we eat originated in unexpected places and may have been cultivated for hundreds or even thousands of years. Even though there are around 50,000 edible plants in the world, only four of these make up 50% of our food. These staples are essential to food security, both now and in the future.
