This unit is designed to help students understand the basics of climate change, its impacts, and what actions they can take to make a positive impact on the environment. Students will learn about the difference between weather and climate, investigate past weather and climatic events, and explore how changes in weather and climate might affect plants, animals, and people. They will also conduct experiments to observe the effects of melting ice on sea level rise. In addition, students will reflect on a place in nature that is special to them and create a work of art based on that place, encouraging them to develop a deeper connection to nature and an appreciation for the importance of preserving it. Throughout the unit, students will engage in group activities, discussions, and presentations, building their understanding of climate change and empowering them to take action in their own lives to protect the planet.
