ClimateWatch is a citizen science initiative that allows people to collect phenological data on various species to help shape Australia's scientific response to climate change. This unit introduces students to ClimateWatch and helps them develop skills in data analysis, communication, and graph construction. By using the ClimateWatch app and website, students will explore how mathematical skills underpin the study of biodiversity and climate change. They will learn how to become citizen scientists by collecting data on the Australian magpie, analyze and communicate trends using real-world data, and make recommendations based on their findings.
