Explore how clean energy is opening new pathways for communities and careers in this Year 8 Economics/Business and Geography unit. Developed in partnership with the First Nations Clean Energy Network, this unit invites students to examine how the growth of the clean energy sector connects to First Nations self-determination, enterprise and economic opportunity.
Students investigate how access to energy shapes communities and how clean energy projects can support more sustainable and equitable futures. They consider how careers, businesses and community-led initiatives are emerging within the sector, and how these opportunities are influenced by place, culture and local priorities.
Through this learning, students develop an understanding of how economic, environmental and social factors intersect in clean energy development. They are encouraged to think critically about future pathways, the role of community voice in decision-making and how clean energy can support thriving, self-determined communities.
