These resources are part of the Digital Licence+ Education Resources, created in collaboration with the Alannah & Madeline Foundation.

This 3-lesson unit for Years 7 & 8, Online in the Real World, has been designed to

  • introduce students to the Internet of Things, exploring how interconnected devices affect daily life and analysing associated safety and privacy concerns
  • build foundational knowledge of eSafety, guiding students to confidently use and understand the eSmart Digital Licence+ platform
  • examine potential risks online, developing strategies to manage and mitigate digital safety threats
  • evaluate personal online presence and behaviours, empowering students to take control of their digital identities
  • analyse how connected devices affect our lives, reflecting on both the benefits and risks of increased connectivity
  • provide hands-on experience with the eSmart Digital Licence+ platform, supporting students in developing essential digital literacy and safety skills.

Students will examine the ways they might engage with digital technologies and explore strategies to stay safe and responsible online in the increasingly connected world. They’ll also use the eSmart Digital Licence+ program to enhance their digital literacy, gaining tools to navigate online environments confidently and responsibly.
