These resources are part of the STOP the Coward Punch Education Resources, created in collaboration with Danny Green’s STOP the Coward Punch Campaign.
This Years 7–10 HPE unit, Promoting Social Change, has been designed to
- explore the role of peer influence in risk-taking and violent behaviours, considering how group dynamics shape individual choices
- investigate the bystander effect, analysing personal responsibility and how individuals can intervene to prevent violence
- examine the impact of substance use on aggression, understanding how alcohol and drugs affect brain function and decision-making
- develop anger management strategies, identifying triggers and learning techniques to regulate emotions and reduce reactive behaviours
- learn de-escalation techniques, applying strategies to calm heightened situations and prevent violent outcomes
- challenge social norms and redefine what is ‘cool’, encouraging students to reflect on identity, belonging and social pressures
- design a targeted social campaign, equipping students with the tools to educate and inspire their communities to take action against violence.
Through interactive discussions, scenario-based learning and campaign creation, students will develop practical skills to foster safer, more respectful environments and drive meaningful change.
