In this series of activities, we explore different multiplication methods to strengthen students' number understanding and provide them with different methods for tackling multiplication. In this activity, students will explore the Russian Peasant Method of multiplication.

- solve problems that require finding a familiar fraction, decimal or percentage of a quantity, including percentage discounts, choosing efficient calculation strategies and using digital tools where appropriate (AC9M6N07).

Relevant parts of Year 5 & 6 achievement standards: Students use their proficiency with multiplication facts to multiply numbers efficiently. Students solve problems involving finding a fraction, decimal or percentage of a quantity.
