Lesson summary
Students read through the news article ‘One Night Stand’s Jamie Green’s journey from Homelessness to Social Entrepreneur’ and create a series of questions based on what they find out about the concept of social enterprise. Students research an existing social enterprise and reflect on how it could improve the health of young people experiencing homelessness. Students then plan their own social enterprise for homeless youth.
Key ideas to explore:
- The manner in which healthy living in the community is promoted.
- How community action initiatives improve the well being of young people.
- A community approach is often useful in addressing social issues.
