This English unit for Years 5 & 6, Fueling Facts, Busting Myths, has been designed to
- build essential media literacy skills by teaching students to identify misinformation, disinformation and bias in online content
- develop critical thinking abilities that help students distinguish between facts and opinions, particularly around clean energy debates
- explore persuasive techniques and language used in media texts, supporting students to become more discerning readers and viewers
- engage students in collaborative fact-checking activities, empowering them to assess the credibility of digital content effectively
- create informative digital content, guiding students to produce and share accurate, evidence-based videos on clean energy with their communities.
Through real-world examples and creative tasks, students will gain confidence in navigating digital media, enabling them to participate in informed discussions about sustainability and clean energy.
