This unit is designed to promote mindfulness and a deeper personal connection to nature-based practices for health and well-being. The unit includes a range of sequential nature-based mindfulness practices, each designed to punctuate the day and allow for present moment focus with awareness of students’ connection to nature. The unit covers topics such as grit, time spent in nature and its benefits for health and well-being, emerging car technologies, food webs, and local biodiversity issues. Students will engage in hands-on activities, scientific inquiry, and visible thinking routines to deepen their understanding of mindfulness and its connection to nature. The unit aims to empower students to undertake positive action in their local environment and care for and appreciate their local environment.
