Lesson Summary

Students will explore how human-induced changes to lion habitats and biomes are affecting wild lion populations in Africa. They explore the motivations behind these changes and case studies of local communities leading lion conservation efforts. Students will create an educational social media post to inspire young people in their local area to take action for wildlife conservation.

Learning intentions

Students will:

understand how humans have altered African biomes for food production
explore how local communities are working to create sustainable futures.

Success criteria

Students can:

explain the impacts of food production on the environments of Africa
apply their knowledge and understanding of African conservation efforts to their local environment.
