Biodiversity and Evolution
This unit is focused on introducing students to the concept of ecosystems and biodiversity. It includes various activities that engage students in learning about different aspects of ecosystems, such as trophic levels, biotic and abiotic elements, and biodiversity. The lessons are designed for a flipped classroom, where students learn new content by watching videos in their own time, freeing up class time for hands-on work. Students will also explore their school yard ecosystem, conduct surveys and create food webs to understand the health and sustainability of the ecosystem. Other activities in the unit include investigating the impact of climate change on biodiversity, exploring human evolution, and learning about the achievements of Charles Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace.
