This unit engages Year 5 and 6 students in Earth Hour by teaching them about climate change through interactive and enjoyable activities. Students will learn how climate change impacts our environment and wildlife in Australia and worldwide. They will investigate energy-saving methods and ways to care for nature, discovering how they can make a positive difference at school, at home, and in their communities. Through these activities, students will become eco-conscious and take meaningful actions to protect our planet.
Earth Hour is a WWF-Australia initiative and the world’s largest community-driven climate change campaign. At its centre is switching off lights to show a commitment to action. Thousands of teachers use Earth Hour’s education program to enrich their curriculum and provide pathways for young people to create change in their world.
