This unit describes a series of lessons that use Adam Goodes' story and the documentary "The Final Quarter" to explore various topics such as building inclusive communities, Australian values, the AFL's Corporate Social Responsibility, and the complexities of celebrating Australia Day. The lessons are designed for students to reflect on their own experiences, consider the experiences of others, and engage in discussions and activities to promote action and decision-making. It is recommended that teachers communicate with parents and guardians of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students before showing the film and engaging in the teaching resources. It is also important for teachers to use their discretion when deciding whether to show the film, particularly if teaching in a context with a high proportion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.
